The late, legendary Empar Ribera was the greatest actress of all time; on that point all agree. But was she a generous keeper and teacher of theatrical tradition, or a predatory and manipulative . . . rhymes with rich? An ambitious young drama student, up for the role of Ribera in a stage bio, turns detetive and tracks down three former ingenues, once good friends, who all knw Ribera near the end of her spectacular life. One's a celebrated tragedienne whose career soared to Olympian heights, but at immense personal cost. One's an abrasive TV comic, bitter that her more serious acting talent has gone unheralded. One withdrew from acting altogether, to guard a lifetime of memories. Each has a different view, "Rashomon" style, of the illustrious Ribera, but who possesses the truth? Fasten your seatbelts; it's going to be a bumpy night, and mud will be flung in this sharp-clawed, witty and cathartic tango-dance of secrets and lies. ACTRESSES promises not to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater, but it may light a few. (In Spanish with English subtitles)
