PETER IN MAGICLAND

Reminiscent of the "Neverending Story" films for its richly texturted enchantments, this cartoon feature blooms with whimsical creatures and absurd fancies, all highlights along the celestial path that youngsters Peter and Annabelle must follow. They're on a quest to the Moon itself, to right an ancient wrong and restore the beetle dynasty of their inscect friend Mr. Buzzworthy to full six-handedness. The European animators (working in collaboration with Disney veterans) fill the screen with surprising homages to everything from Georges Melies to Nintendo. Father Christmas, the Easter bunny, Mr. Sandman, and even Rain Man (no, not THAT Rain Man!) make guest apperances in Magicland. Best line: "Don't talk to strangers and finish eating your mouse."-Charles Cassady. In English. Recommended for children ages 6 and up.
