Hit men. Grand theft auto. Dance lessons. Young Adolpho Rollo never asked for any of this. The aspiring New York filmmaker only wanted to finance his 500 page script on Nietzsche and Dostoevsky and maybe impress the beauty living next door. But when Joe, a deliriously romantic racketeer, signs on as producer, Adolpho finds himself dragged deeper and deeper into a soup of underworld crimes and misdemeanors. Money rolls in, but Adolphol wonders about the true motives of his fairy godfather. Of IN THE SOUP Time Magazine says, "There are guys in Hollywood spending millions and not getting results half as hilarious." Alexandre Rockwell warns that it's based on fact. Look for a cameo by Akron's own Jim Jarmusch in this multiple prize winner at the 1992 Sundance Film Festival. C.C.
