Warning! This documentary contains explicit scenes of monogamy and family love. Hugh Hefner, the 60ish founder of Playboy (both the magazine and the philosophy), married Playmate Kimberley Conrad just a few years ago, and is now a father. In a psychological travelogue" from the producers of "Twin Peaks," the content and thoughtful Hef looks back on a fantasy-like life and lifestyle, its glamour, excess and success, as he built an empire on the concept of guiltless sexual freedom, then retired to idyllic marital domesticity. Even Hugh's detractors must admit that things would have been much duller without him, and interviews include such Playboy regulars as Jules Pfeiffer, Alex Haley, Barbi Benton, William F. Buckley, and the Rev. Jerry Falwell. The surprise appearance by Ohio businessman Charles B. Keating (the Hefner of S&Ls) is, well, priceless. C.C.
