Food for thought: what if Pedro Almodovar, Preston Sturges and John Waters got together to make a movie. Eli, alias Bud, is on the run for shooting his crazed rich bitch fiancee, Twinkle, and stealing her daddy's money. He seeks refuge amongst a community of eccentrics inhabiting a trailer park in El Monte, CA. These characters include a washed up opera singer and her masochistic son, two sex-starved, aging Southern belles, a sadistic porno star who collects Barbie dolls and her virginal kid sister, Dannie, for whom Bud naturally falls. Bud and Dannie's sweet romance lends a light touch to this wild, wacky black comedy of kitsch, "Americana style." First time director Joel Hershman calls the film a fairy tale on acid and he has been hailed as the "director America's been waiting for." See HOLD ME, THRILL ME, KISS ME and see what everyone's been talking, and laughing, about. K.K.
